WHAT IS

BIKE    BUILD

Logo.png

Bike2Build is an exciting event that tracks one rider's journey across 300 miles as he seeks to raise support for the cause of building hope through building homes. Hosted by the Habitat for Humanity of Clearfield County, the Bike2Build event helps to support local families in the Clearfield County area who are seeking help with obtaining affordable housing.  Each year our rider, John Farr, plans out a ride to inspire financial partners with the vision of seeing people's lives changed through Habitat for Humanity's work.  See below for more information about the details of this year's exciting adventure.

Notes from John About This Year's Ride

The weather should be moderate for this trip with the highs in the 70’s and lows in the 50’s. September is usually a pretty dry month. My riding is strong which I measure by how well I can take on the hills around home. For instance, to train for my ride, I cycle 65 miles to State College, which involves 5,300-ft of climbing in about 6 hours. I’m feeling ready to go. The route was determined by family obligations as we have a wedding to attend in the northeast. To avoid last year’s snafu when my ride ended in a visit to the ER and a diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis. I intend to be diligent about getting off the bike hourly for a rest and to be very careful by staying hydrated.
