Honoring John Farr

We at Habitat honored the memory of John Farr, our Founder, with a heartfelt bike challenge to raise funds for home builds in Clearfield County—fondly known as Bike 2 Build, a name John lovingly gave his ride each year.

This year, the challenge aimed to raise a record-breaking $50,000 for Habitat for Humanity, an organization that John was deeply passionate about.

Whether participants were seasoned cyclists or simply wanted to support a worthy cause, we welcomed people from all walks of life to join us in this meaningful journey.

There were several ways to participate in John’s Memorial Bike Challenge:

People rode—on the road or on stationary bikes—sponsored specific riders, or pledged donations based on anticipated mileage.

For those who preferred a more straightforward approach, direct donations to the cause were always welcome and provided essential support to the projects John cared so much about.

John Farr was deeply committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of others, especially through his unwavering dedication to Habitat for Humanity of Clearfield County. Over the years, he served in many vital roles—including Board President, Construction Supervisor, and a constant advocate and supporter. His passion fueled more than 20 annual bicycle rides to raise funds in support of Habitat’s mission. He also founded and organized the "King of the Mountain" bicycle race, turning it into a beloved annual fundraiser that continues to benefit the cause he held so close to his heart.
